In The Box:

  • 1x UPTab Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 4K/120Hz HDR Active Adapter
  • 1x USB to Micro USB 40" (1m) Cable
  • 1 Year Warranty

Quick Guide:

  • Can only convert the signal from Mini DisplayPort to HDMI. This is not a bi-directional adapter
  • Connect multiple monitors using NVIDIA™ Surround technology (one adapter per monitor)
  • Depress the button on the Mini DisplayPort connector to release the latches and avoid damage when unplugging
  • For the HDR function, the source system needs to support Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and the screen needs to have support for HDR and HDMI™ 2.1

Q: I am only getting 4K@60Hz when using the UPTab Active adapter. How can I get 4K @ 120Hz?

There are several different reasons why a 4K display would be limited to 4K@30/60Hz using our adapter. We would recommend first checking:

  • The Mini DisplayPort output port must be mDP 1.4 compliant to get 4K @ 120Hz with HDR.
  • System specifications to ensure that the internal graphics processor can support 4K @ 60Hz and that the output port on the system/GPU can support 4K @ 60Hz.
  • Monitor specifications to ensure that it can support 4K@120Hz from the desired input port. HDMI input ports must be HDMI 2.1-compliant.
  • For HDR to function, the source system needs to support Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and the screen needs to have support for HDR and/or HDMI 2.1.
  • Ensure that the HDMI cable is HDMI 2.1 Certified.

If both the system's GPU, Mini DisplayPort output port, and the monitor claim support for 4K @ 120Hz, please check the Windows Advanced Display Adapter settings to ensure that 120/60Hz is available and selected from the drop-down list.

If 120Hz is not listed and you are connected to our adapter with an HDMI 2.1 cable, please double-check that the monitor has HDMI 2.1 ports. Additionally, some 4K TVs and monitors must enable an “HDMI 2.1,” an “HDMI UHD Color” or “Ultra HD/UHD Deep Color” (or similar) setting for 4K@120/60Hz to work via HDMI. Please consult the monitor’s manual and check the monitor’s menu settings to see if there is an applicable setting.

UPTab adapter is truly active. Rather than relying upon passing a TMDS signal via Mini DisplayPort’s Dual-Mode, the adapters actively convert the outgoing Mini DisplayPort LVDS packets into the necessary TMDS signaling. With an internal clock rate of up to 594MHz, our adapters support all the “must-have” features of HDMI 2.1, with resolutions up to 4K@120Hz with HDR, stereoscopic 3D support, and higher color depths.

Q: Does the UPTab (MINI4KDISPAY) adapter support AMD Eyefinity setups beyond two monitors?

Yes! AMD Eyefinity will allow up to two “legacy” display connections (HDMI, DVI, or VGA). The third connection must be native Mini DisplayPort, i.e., not Dual-Mode/DP++ carrying an HDMI signal (since that would count as one of the two “legacy” displays). When using our active adapter, the video card will not need to utilize one of the legacy connections, but instead will address it as a native Mini DisplayPort display. (Please note: per AMD, their graphics cards support a maximum of two active adapters.)

Q: Does the UPTab (MINI4KDISPAY) adapter support 4:4:4 color/chroma sampling?

Yes! Our adapter supports 4:4:4 chroma sampling at 4K @ 120Hz resolutions at 8-bit color depth (8bpc). Please be aware that the connected display/TV must also support 4:4:4 color depth, and the HDMI cable must be HDMI 2.1 capable while connected to an HDMI 2.1 input port on the display.

Q: Does your adapter support HDR?

Our adapter does support HDR imaging (High Dynamic Range). HDMI 2.0b is the minimum specification for supporting HDR.

Q: What HDR standards are supported?

Our adapter supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) standards: Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG

Worked ok under Windows 11 with my LG Ultragear+ 45" Ultrawide (5k) and Nvidia A400 gpu, but I could not get it to work under Ubuntu Linux 24.04 with the same hardware. Linux could not get any monitor EDID information with the adapter, so was stuck at low res 640x480. After many hours of trying to troubleshoot, and manually tweaking settings via modeline and other options, I finally gave up. Using under Linux is my primary need, so the adapter doesn't fill my requirement. Giving three stars as it worked as ok under Window 11.

Works fine under Windows 11, but I could not get it to work under Linux with an LG Ultragear+ 45" Ultrawide Screen (5k screen) and an Nvidia A400. Could get all resolutions, including 5k under Windows 11, but no luck with Ubuntu Linux Desktop 24.04. The adapter would not properly pass any EDID info under Linux and would leave me stuck at low res 640x480. After many hours of troubleshooting, and many permutations of trying to force specific resolutions I gave up getting it to work under Linux. For me that was the main use, was with Linux workstations, so doesn't meet my need unfortunately.

The device works quite well. Better than the Cable Matters cable or adapter.
However, I can't activate Dolby Atmos, which is understandable if it only accepts PCM.
According to the firmware update information, it only supports certain NVIDIA drivers, but it works quite well for me in the latest versions.

Very happy to confirm this works, 3840x2160 @ 60Hz into the HDMI 2.0 port of a Philips BDM3275 monitor. W4100 FirePro graphics card, Windows 10 x64. HDMI cable is 3.5m (3m + 0.5m pigtail + gender changer).

Shocked that this worked tbh. Built a lounge pc with an old ATI 7800 which only supported 4k@30hz on hdmi but displayport couldn't connect to my TV because its HDMI only. Thought I would take the gamble and try this adapter out even though I thought its a bit pricey. Behold plugged it in and Windows 10 picked it up 4k@60hz. Very pleased.

Allows me to use my two amd 7950s hdmi 1.4, in crossfire at 60hz, on a 4k hdmi 2.0 lg tv.i can play fallout 4 at 45 fps with shadows set to medium at 4k resolution with i920 overclocked. saved me buying new video cardx2 and new cpu+mobo+memory.fingers crossed the adapter will keep working as well as it does now.

Does not appear to function as intended. When I go from my pc via mini dp 1.2 to my 4k monitor without the converter it works fine. The same when I go over the hdmi 2.0 to my tv. However when I try to use the adaptor to go from my pc to my tv via the adaptor it does not work and just flickers solid frames of color.

I only had HDMI in on my panasonic UHD TV, this adapter didn't work beyond UHD 30hz initially but with switchresx and these settings:pixel clock 594.0active H 3840 V 2160,front porch H 176 V 8,sync width H 88 V 10,back porch H 296 V 72,scan rate H 135khz V 60,I got it working from both my mac pro (2016) and my macbook pro (mid 2015) at full UHD 60hz! SO HAPPY!

yes does work 4k at 60hz....would and will buy from them again....also like to add.....i ordered the wrong one by mistake...(my fault they look very similar....make sure you order the right one....i wanted the display port...but somehow managed to order the mini display port one...so just be careful when ordering guys)..i sent the other one back..and a few days later received the correct one....great service...thank you..consdiring it was my mistake in first place......i am using this on a gtx 1080 ftw gpu to my 4k tv....using the display port from my gpu to the hdmi 2.0 on my tv......would also like to point out i am using high speed hdmi cables....so cant say for sure if they work on cheaper hdmi cables......but i wouldn't think so...although i picked up good ones here on amazon for a few quid...not expensive...and well made....if any needs any answers contact me on here and would be happy to help people out if they have any questions about this product......i will test this adapter on my new 4k amp when i get it in a few weeks...will update on here at that time.......to see if it works on passtru....i cant test this at the moment because my current amp cant pass tru 4k signal to tv...but imagine it will.....also it says hdmi 2.0a capable...so this should be good for hdr content to

Guys, i am SO HAPPY! I have a hisense 43 inch 4k tv, and plugged it into my mac using a standard hdmi to minidisplyport from the apple store - it was only going to 30z and it wasnt usable - i think tried swichresx with the old apple adaptor, and i did the disable SIP and did a custom resolution and said invalid - not activated - then this amazing adaptor came in the post - and BOOM!! instantly worked!! i now have a 43inch 4k MONITOR!THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! ITS GREAT!!! - All the other engineers are jealous, so i think we will order 5 more :-)

Beautiful. It's a nice looking adapter too

Worked perfectly on my Mac Pro and Samsung curved 55" 4k TV, giving crystal clear 60Hz. Beautiful. It's a nice looking adapter too.I was starting to worry I'd never get 60Hz, but this worked first time. Oh, I also had to change the Samsung TV into UHD Color mode for the HDMI port.
